What is your life's work?

Am I doing what I'm suppose to be doing?

Am I on my right path?

How would I know if I'm not?

Am I doing what I came here to do?

How will I know if I am sucessful at it?

I am guessing everyone has asked themselves these questions at some point in their lives, with differing responses to how you think that's going. I'm not sure by the end of this post that you will have all of these questions answered, but what I'd like to address is a how or a path. How you might get closer to answering some of these very deep meaningful questions. The first thing I'm going to suggest, is that you throw out those questions. And start with this one instead.

What types of things do you enjoy doing? What activities do you engage in that make your heart happy?

So, I'm going to ask you to do some work, don't just read those questions and skip to the end of this article. Make a list, right now. A mental list, if you don't have paper near. If it helps to shut your eyes, do that. Ask yourself, where do I enjoy spending my time? Try to come up with 3 things. I'll wait, I'm a patient person.

OK, you are onto this paragraph because you now have a mental list of 3 things. If you don't please go back up to the previous exercise and do the work, really I want this to be helpful so indulge me. What did you come up with? Maybe your list has some things in it like, well I enjoy spending time with family, I have a hobby I do in my spare time, or I just enjoy being in nature. That's a fine list by the way, as long as it's true to you.

Great, so now what? Well, how much of your time do you spend doing these things on your list? Think about it. I'll wait. If your answer is not very much, how do you fit more of these things into your day, what other things are taking priority that can wait? What if, for one week you made one item from this list a priority daily and consciously do it..... not just when you get a spare moment. If what makes your heart sing is being in nature, for one week, I want you to commit to spending 30 minutes outside every day, and then do that for a couple of weeks.

I know at this point some of you are thinking, wait a minute, no way I can make $ or find my lifes work by just hanging outside.

Well here's what happens folks. You spend more time doing things that make you happy, that make you feel in the flow, and lots of wonderful things happen, here's a list of some possible outcomes:

Your initial activity blossoms into other things you enjoy

If you find that when you do this activity, you discover new ways to engage in it, you discover other benefits to doing it, or you find outshoots of different activities you can do from the first activity and continue to support protecting this time and effort for You!

You become inspired when you engage in this activity

Who doesn't enjoy having a stroke of inspiration, where a great idea helps other aspects of our lives. When you put your mind into an activity you enjoy, you forget about time, everything just flows, and this leaves you open for more inspiration. Ever had this happen where you are engaging in some activity? all the sudden an idea comes to you and you've helped another area of your life!

You feel better more of the time (because you made it a priority) and you inspire others.

30 minutes a day 7 days a week, two weeks in a row, and you have now spent 7 hours engaged in a happy activity that makes you feel refreshed to do other things. You also practiced making yourself a priority, which should also make you feel pretty empowered to do more of that. 'I'll have what she's having......' You might hear this, you look so different! Did you do something different with your hair? You look like you are glowing! That's right folks when you spend time engaging in stuff that makes your heart sing, others see it too. Can't hide that radiating energy, people want to know how you did it.

This is how it works folks, in a day by day sort of way, So you see, all of this is a path, that leads you to where you find happiness in your heart and fulfillment in your soul.

Here's the advice I want you to remember from this, do more of the stuff that makes you happy, when you are trying to get to 'your lifes work' don't wait for some epiphanious moment where you have some prophetic vision of what this is. This hardly ever happens. Spend time doing more of the things that make you happy. Make it a priority in your day, week, month. Do them consistently and it'll guide you on your path, and you feel better more of the time.

Thank you for reading!
